In any case, I should take this time to give you, my readers, a brief update on my move to Playa. Not happening. At least not anytime in the near future. Reasons listed here:
1. My house still has not sold!! 14 months on the market!! Interest and showings are VERY sporadic. I received 3 calls for showings in one day after nearly 8 weeks of nothing. Still though, only one bogus offer was submitted. The wanted 30% off the asking price!! The good news is that all followup reports are positive. The price of the condo is never an issue nor is the condition or the location of the condo. Some people are looking for a basement, extra bedroom, or simply don't want the creek in back (small children). I'll keep my house on the market though. I need a change. And I'd like to be free of the home in the event the move to Mexico can happen sooner than I think.
2. My employer has indicated that my request to work remotely (Mexico) cannot be honored at this time. Basically, they rescinded stating that the 'business environment has changed'. I won't go into detail as I'm not exactly sure what that means but I have a few guesses. I've been waiting now for 4 months to have a meeting on this as I'd like to know when my request CAN be honored. I'm silently flying the 'Unfair Flag, though as they let one of my co-workers return to India a few weeks ago. He is working for us from there. I just wish someone would give me answers. That's all I want.
3. Last, I was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I've had symptoms for a long time now, but I kept playing off my pains and limitations to this, that, and the other thing. But one day, in early May, I lost the use of my right hand at work and it freaked me out. I did some research on the internet and basically diagnosed myself. I went in for a blood test with my family doctor and it was confirmed. I'm now working with a Specialist and trying to get my RA into remission. I still have issues here and there, but I feel so much better these days!! A move to Mexico while I am still trying to adjust to meds wouldn't be feasible at this point. However, if the opportunity truly presented itself and this was the only roadblock, I'd find a way to make it work.
I am still looking for other ways of getting to Mexico and supporting myself. Details on that will follow. So, for now, I'll keep my blog name the same.
Other than what I've listed, life has been good. I really don't have much to complain about. I took some nice trips this year. One to the Bay Islands in Honduras to do some incredible diving. And another to Playa to help out with a Cat Rescue Fundraiser. I'll be going back to Playa in November to celebrate my 40th (GAH!) birthday. 12 days of fun in the sun with friends and family.
I'll leave you with a few pictures of me and my favorite destination...see you soon!
